Sarah is an active educator in the Kitchener-Waterloo Region. Leading with curiosity and compassion, Sarah inspires music lovers through song as a teacher, speaker, and choir director.

Sarah has a lively voice studio at Whole Tone Music where she teaches students ranging from children to adults. Her expansive performance background  paired with her curiosity and love for learning invites an experimental and collaborative approach to teaching, inspiring creativity on and off-stage. Sarah’s lessons include learning skills such as healthy vocal technique, approaches to learning music and practicing, musicianship skills, theory, acting, and confidence. Sarah is a strong believer that everyone can and should make music!

She has experience preparing and facilitaing group classes and camp programming including teaching "Introduction to Music" and "Introduction to Musical Theatre" classes and "Broadway Bound" summer camp.

During her time at Wilfrid Laurier University, Sarah conducted a research project analyzing community engagement with opera under the supervision of Kimberly Barber. She created and distributed a survey asking participants to reflect on their engagement and attitudes toward opera. The project culminated in an informative and comedic lecture recital titled How to NOT Hate Opera.

Sarah has given presentations at community and education facilities throughout the region.

After a year as a choral scholar seeking more responsibility, Sarah created the Associate Choir Director position at Mount Zion Lutheran Church where she co-leads music ministry alongside Music Director Sarah Cardwell. There she leads choir rehearsals and conducts anthems and offering music. Sarah is responsible for ensuring rehearsals are fun and functional prioritizing helping choir members build confidence in musical spaces. She guides the choir in preparing music for performance, with a focus on pitch and rhythmic accuracy, expressive singing, and choral blending

Sarah holds an Honours Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance with a Minor in Theatre Studies from Western University and a Diploma in Opera from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Sarah is a freelance social media manager and content creator who works with musicians and arts organizations to grow their audience and enhance their digital presence. She currently is in charge of all things social media for NUMUS Concerts and the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Music Society.
